Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Senior Policy Advisor on Homelessness, you will use your knowledge of and experience with Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Immediate Office of the Assistant Secretary (IOAS), to optimize business results and customer experience by: Manages a wide range of policy projects related to homelessness. Provides expert advice and consultation on homelessness to make realistic assessments of a broad range of difficult, complex, and sensitive policy issues. Oversees and makes authoritative decisions on the prioritization and disposition of issues related to homelessness in consultation with ACF leadership. Coordinates, plans, and conducts broad policy reviews and studies of national significance on the prevention and impact of youth and family homelessness. Initiates, explores, and establishes opportunities for increased collaboration to inform and enhance program policy and obtain input from the communities ACF serves. Recommends courses of action to Senior Leadership on new and possible controversial policy questions, program initiatives, and legislative proposals impacting youth and family homelessness. Initiates, explores, and establishes approaches for opportunities for increased program policy effectiveness and program coordination on homelessness within the agency and with organizations outside ACF.

Requirements

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Basic Qualifications: Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Basic Requirement: You must meet one of the items listed below (A, B, or C): A. Possess a degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Must provide transcripts) OR B. Possess a combination of education and experience -- that provided you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Must provide transcript) OR C. Possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. AND In addition to the basic qualification requirement, you must meet the following: Minimum Qualifications: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-13 level in the Federal service that includes ALL of the following: Interpreting and/or revising existing homelessness policy and regulatory guidance used by others within or outside the organization. Provide expert advice and/or consultation on assessments of a broad range of complex and/or sensitive policy issues related to homelessness. Evaluate program accomplishments and/or policy initiatives for consistency and/or long-range goals. Advise leadership on broad, complex, and/or sensitive issues on program policy efforts related to homelessness.
