About the Position: The person in this position will serve as primary instructor for Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatrics Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training programs, under the American Heart Association and the military training network and perform related duties associated with training format and analysis of training data and medical facility training requirements.

Duties

Review and/or evaluate training materials (e.g., texts, manuals, handbooks), training media (e.g., audiovisual aids), methods, and tests. Perform as primary instructor for Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatrics Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training programs Resolve issues involving organization, illustration, and interpretation of the material, and communication in reaching and motivating the students. Interface collaboratively with assisted military or civilian paraprofessional staff members. Responsible for and/or directs preparation/clean-up of classroom environment. Set-up simulation mannequin and supporting equipment for simulation training/exercises, moulages. Serve as a proctor for simulation training and assists other medical/military personnel by administrating and supervising training. Verify the accuracy of existing instructional resources, protocols, and products.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing instructional training in a classroom environment; operating medical and/or non-medical simulation equipment for various simulation training or exercises; and developing and/or implementing emergency training programs for an organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Education, Business Administration, HealthCare, or Emergency Medicine. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
