You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (RECRUITMENT & PLACEMENT/OA) in the Customer Service Department (Code 50) of OCHR STENNIS OPERATIONS CENTER.

Duties

You will enter payroll data into human resources information systems (e.g., Total Workforce Management System [TWMS], Defense Civilian Personnel Data System [DCPDS], or similar system. You will process pay actions using a human resource automated system. You will collaborate with human resource professionals in other organizations to ensure personnel actions are processed timely. You will review Requests for Personnel Action (RPAs) received from serviced organizations for accuracy, completeness, or missing documents. You will code information into a database to maintain records and track information.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Processing various types of personnel actions in an automated system; 2) Using automated systems to extract data for reports; 3) Using Guide to Processing Personnel actions (GPPA) to verify coding of actions; and 4) providing written communication to customers on the status of personnel action processing. NOTE: This experience must be fully supported by your resume. GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing assistance in processing personnel actions; 2) Entering data in human resources information systems; and 3) Providing written and oral communication to customers or personnel about human resources information. NOTE: This experience must be fully supported by your resume. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Education

GS-05 level:
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successfully completed four years of education above high school level
OR
Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
