About the Position: This position is located at Old River Control Structure.

Duties

Operates heavy engineering equipment such as excavators, front-end loaders, bulldozers, etc., Operates heavy engineering equipment on all types of terrain. Operates wheeled or tracked equipment to tow attachments and non-self-propelled equipment. Performs routine operator's maintenance and service on assigned equipment, such as: keeping equipment clean, parts properly greased, and serviced with water, coolants, lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, and fuel, etc.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Physical Examination.
  • Designated Drug Test Position.
  • incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • One year probationary period may be required.
  • Travel required up to 10%

Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles)Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation)Operation of Motor VehiclesWork Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort - Heavy physical effort is required in constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving arms and legs to operate various controls. Is subject to strain caused by constant vibration of equipment and the jerking and jolting caused from operating over rough surfaces. Must frequently work in awkward or strained positions. Must have the coordination and dexterity to operate hand and foot controls of the equipment. Working Conditions - Work is performed outdoors under all types of weather conditions, and from an exposed driver's seat or in partially enclosed cabs of equipment. Is subject to noise, dirt, and exhaust fumes, cuts and abrasions from trees and undergrowth, and insect bites; and possible injury from equipment overturning.
