This position is located in External Affairs Directorate, Office Of Public Affairs. As an Public Affairs Specialist, you will use your writing, communications and technical skills to create quality materials that provide information to the public, leadership and stakeholders while interacting with a diverse workforce of public affairs specialists.

Duties

Responds to requests from various news media sources concerning agency operations while maintaining relationships with stakeholders, media outlets and government officials. Develops material that informs the public of agency operations, as well as disseminate information, obtain and evaluate feedback to inform leadership of public opinion. Arranges news media visits to field locations, attend news-worthy agency events, and accompany USCIS principals during media interviews ensuring our agency speaks with one voice. Develops tactics, such as scope, tone of content, and timing, to launch and sustain the agency's effort.

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 08/25/2023. GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Conveying information about complex programs to a public that has a diverse understanding of the organization's activities. Preparing policy statements reflecting the policies, views and program initiatives of the organization. Responding to requests from the local, state, and national media outlets Establishing and maintain effective working relationships with national representatives of the media and public interest organizations.
