You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in the Training and Education Command (TECOM) of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND.

Duties

You will prepare for and present formal classroom and laboratory instruction on the principles of electronics and associated test equipment. You will instruct less-experienced instructors in the various aspects of the formal training environment. You will review course materials for effectiveness, technical accuracy, compliance with current directives and methodologies, and recommend changes. You will prepare and submit required training related documents such as student academic records, training schedules, training support equipment requirements, after instruction reports, rosters, classroom and/or laboratory equipment inventories. You will counsel students on academic matters and recommend disposition of students experiencing academic or personal problems. You will counsel permanent personnel on instructional techniques, delivery methods and expectations while teaching basic electronics theory. You will coordinate and monitor all maintenance support on training aids for the maintenance section.

  • This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You may occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Developing, conducting, and evaluating formal and informal training programs in basic and advanced electronics theory and the application of radio systems; AND generating and revising course materials AND applying instructional strategies required to identify and perform each phase of a formal training process. This experience may have been gained as a teacher or instructor; in on-the-job supervision or instruction of subordinates or fellow workers; or in work involving application of the principles, practices, and techniques of the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled. Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s). Supervising or administering a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree

OR

Have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree.

OR

OR

Have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
