About the Position: Serves as a Police Record Clerk (Office Automation), performing a variety of clerical, administrative and office automation functions in support of the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES). Exercises extensive technical knowledge of legal/police terminology, regulations, procedures and processes governing administrative functions. The work requires knowledge and application of numerous regulations, policies, procedures, guidelines, and precedents.

Duties

Serve as a Police Record Clerk (Office Automation), performing a variety of clerical, administrative and office automation functions in support of a Directorate of Emergency Services. Perform routine clerical and administrative functions using office equipment such as computer, copier, and fax machines. Input data manually into the Army Law Enforcement Reporting and Tracking System (ALERTS) for submission to the appropriate agency. Serves as a Post Debarment, and Revocation and Suspension of Installation Driving Privileges clerk Proofread documentation for correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and formatting so that the information on the case report flows properly, and to prepare a variety of forms used by the organization served.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires you to obtain and maintain the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within six months of being appointed to this position.
  • This position requires significant knowledge of office automation systems and a fully qualified typist to perform word processing duties.
  • This position requires you to work flexible hours which include weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical, On occasion, may be required to lift items weighing from 15-44 pounds, with assistance.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) performing clerical, administrative support tasks to facilitate work of an office, 2) maintaining electronic reports, calendars, spreadsheets, databases; and 3) producing correspondence, reports and publications; and reviewing, preparing and distributing incoming and outgoing correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)Integrity/HonestyWriting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
