Duties

On December 18, 2015, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2016 (P.L. 114-113) amended the Inspector General Act of 1978 (IG Act) and created the Office of Inspector General (OIG) at the U.S. AbilityOne Commission, a designated federal entity IG. The OIG is responsible for conducting oversight, including audits, investigations and reviews, recommending policies and procedures that promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of agency resources and programs, and detecting and preventing fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement. The IG Act requires the IG to keep the Commission and Congress fully and currently informed about problems and deficiencies in the Commission's operations and the need for any corrective action. This position is located in the U.S. AbilityOne Commission, Office of Inspector General (OIG), whose oversight mission is to promote the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of the U.S. AbilityOne Commission, its programs and operations, and to protect these programs and operations against fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement. In this position, you will serve as Assistant Inspector General for Evaluations. Typical work assignments include: Planning, execution, and review of the evaluations, and providing supervision and guidance for all aspects of the work products. Coordinating or leading regular and periodic briefings to the IG and/or DIG; identifying, negotiating and providing resolutions to problems, particularly those involving execution of the reviews or mission accomplishments. Providing supervision, direction, and guidance to staff GS-14 and below assigned to the Office of Evaluations, or as assigned. Ensuring the office's work products meet the highest standards of the OIG, including for completeness, quality, logic, and tone. and ensuring staff compliance with CIGIE and OIG quality standards and/or best practices.

You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you meet one of the following requirements: You have at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-14 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Providing advice to senior officials on program planning; Directing staff to complete projects and/or evaluation studies to support organizational goals; and Leading briefings to senior officials on program operation audits and investigations.
