About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York, a historically unique and geographically beautiful area, offering bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.

Duties

This position is located within the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) where you will perform a broad range of duties using one or more database software programs. Most work requires the efficient utilization of the database software programs Offense Reporting System (ORS-2) and Access. Use basic and advanced program functions to perform such operations as updating, editing/correcting and revising databases with sensitive, pertinent police information ensuring the accuracy of grammar, spelling and content. Search for and retrieve data for statistical crime related reports. Prepare statistical reports presenting data to meet sporadic and monthly reporting requirements.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Performing a variety of office automation duties utilizing various types of equipment and software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; 2) Storing and retrieving technical data and editing reports and; 3) Retrieving and integrating information from different software sources into a final product. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Time in Grade Requirement: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
