Job opening: SUPERVISORY PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST

You will serve as a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist for the Office of Judge Advocate General vice NLSC.

Duties

You will develop new methods and approaches in planning, integrating and evaluating the organization?s overall PA program, and in assisting field PA specialists. You will have mastery of skills related to communication principles, methods, practices and techniques of communications serving as an organization?s advisor on PA issues, analytical methods and interpersonal relations practices. You will analyze short and long-range strategic plans ? as well as standard operating practices and policies ? to enhance understanding and acceptance of JAG Corps programs and/or activities. You will direct responses to, or prepares media requests for information of both a routine and sensitive nature ensuring information is well vetted by subject-matter experts.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience planning, supervising and managing Public Affairs Specialist work equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates utilizing a mastery knowledge of the principles, methods practices and techniques of advanced communication techniques and apply new approaches sufficient to function as a technical authority for the organization to analyze the most difficult and complex public affairs problems, and evaluate and develop information programs enhancing understanding among publics opposed or indifferent to agency programs. I utilize the widest range of communication vehicles, including oral, written, electronic, video, printed and all other media. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Participate in the planning, designing, coordinating, implementing, evaluating, and executing of a global communications strategy to inform and educate the general public, the news media, and other DoD officials; 2) Serve as an expert advisor participating in the formulation and articulation of an overall plan integrating the public affairs issues of the agency and recommending strategies for all aspects of the public affairs program; and establishing standards for the development and evaluation of public affairs activities; 3) Implements educational and risk communication programs to increase command awareness on a variety of topics and appropriate behaviors to reduce these risks ensuring timely, accurate, and credible information is provided by spokespeople at all levels of the command during an outbreak.; and 4) Research, assemble, write, and disseminate sensitive, critical, and complex information for both internal and external audiences on a wide variety of subjects in support of the overall mission of the Agency; and 5) Establish and maintain effective working relationships with executive senior leaders, individuals and group, both inside and outside the Agency who are interested in or affected by programs, creating meaningful communication interchanges between them and the organization.
