About the Position: These positions are located in the U.S. Army Installation Management Command Directorate of Emergency Services, Physical Security Branch, Security Guard on Redstone Arsenal. .

Duties

Conduct vehicle searches/inspections in accordance with standing operating procedures. Inspects containers, personal property documents on private property, and commercial and government vehicles. Screen Employees, visitors, and contractors personnel for visitor access on military installations. When required, make independent decisions regarding the use of deadly force, operate active vehicle barriers and alert appropriate official of apparent security violation. Conduct traffic stops at the Installation Access Control Points for safety and security checks. Controls, prepares, issues identification badges, cars, and passes that allow access of civilian, military, contractor personnel and visitor on the installation. Respond to telephone and in-person inquiries, by providing guidance and information on security regulations and procedures.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program IAW AR 190-56.
  • In Accordance with Army Regulation 600-85, a DA Form 5019R Condition of Employment must be assigned for mandatory drug testing. Individual agrees to submit to a urinalysis on a recurring basis, in accordance with AR 600-85.
  • Shift work is required, or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Incumbent must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability.

  • Incumbent must successfully complete CPR certification and First Aid training.
  • Incumbent may be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
  • Incumbent will be required to pass entry level and annual re-certification of standard Army physical fitness/agility test.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid drivers license.
  • Incumbent must wear prescribed uniform.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • Overtime may be required, as directed and is subject to recall for periods of emergency overtime.
