Qualifications

In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below: To qualify for the GS-11 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-09 level defined as experience in developing, planning and implementing Great Lakes environmental data collection efforts; compiling, analyzing, and evaluating environmental data and information generated as part of the data collection efforts; preparing technical reports, presentations, and publications; serving as a scientist on research vessels or field teams; and coordinating or collaborating with multiple agencies and partners (e.g., tribes, states, federal agencies, local governments, universities, etc.) to assess the physical, chemical, and biological health of the Great Lakes ecosystem.- OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in the academic discipline as described below- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. To qualify for the GS-12 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level defined as experience in developing, planning and implementing Great Lakes environmental data collection efforts; compiling, analyzing, and evaluating environmental data and information generated as part of the data collection efforts; preparing technical reports, presentations, and publications; serving as a scientist on research vessels or field teams; and coordinating or collaborating with multiple agencies and partners (e.g., tribes, states, federal agencies, local governments, universities, etc.) to assess the physical, chemical, and biological health of the Great Lakes ecosystem Your application package will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices of one or more of the following (environmental or general engineering and/or the biological, geological, environment, and/or physical sciences) to plan, coordinate, manage and oversee monitoring and evaluation of projects and related activities Knowledge of the Great Lakes National Program Office (GLNPO) monitoring and assessment programs to provide expertise in the development and implementation.
