About the Position: This position serves as an Administrative Support Specialist, with U.S. Army Communications Electronics Command, responsible for assisting and advising supervisor and managers on matters relating to manpower, personnel, budget, training, and special projects.

Duties

Initiates, prepares, reviews, and tracks various personnel actions. Overall management of the agency awards program. Serves as the focal point for all training classes for agency personnel. Provides general administration for the U.S. Government International Merchant Purchase Authorization Card program. Point of contact for all pay actions and problems that need to be addressed by the local payroll.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least three years progressively responsible experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least the NH-01 (GS-4) pay band, which includes experience such as: assisting with providing management advisory services regarding personnel recruitment and workforce planning; advising management on training requirements and guidelines; and providing administrative support to the Government Travel Credit Card program including initial travel card requests, monitoring, and ensuring compliance of travel card regulations. This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-1/GS-04). OR EDUCATION: GS-05/NH-02: 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. GS-07/NH-02: 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement. GS-09/NH-02: 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree. GS-11/NH-02: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementHuman Resources ManagementRecruitment/Placement Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
