About the Position: This position is located within Department of Public Works. Fort Bragg is known as the "Home of the Airborne and Special Operations Forces." It is a culturally diverse area with both rural and city populations and is co-located at Fayetteville, NC. It is centrally located just hours away from the beautiful beaches of North Carolina and the scenic Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains.

Duties

Ensure all requests for purchase are accompanied with three quotes before going to the buying officer for approval to purchase. Purchase items such as parts, materials, supplies and equipment on the open-market and through scheduled sources. Negotiate contractors? quotes to ensure technical factors such as timelines, fair and reasonable pricing, and specifications in the solicitation are met. Award micro-purchase contracts complex repair supplies, parts and equipment for the many different facility types, ages of infrastructure and diverse interior finishes and mechanical systems. Maintain a current database of qualified contractors with historical performance records and periodically surveys local market to recruit new contractors. Maintain required records, reports, correspondence, documents, etc. on each contract issues. Research stock numbers, catalog numbers, part number, nomenclature, units of issues, special codes, manufacture codes, packaging and handling codes, open/closed records, partial shipments, etc. Determine if the item requested requires competitive or sole source procurement while complying with all regulatory sources of supply.

Requirements

  • The work requires the ability to regularly lift 40 pounds and may occasionally lift over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid Installation, DoD and/or Federal License required for the type vehicle operated.
  • The employee will operate a forklift to move, store, and rearrange materials received for various work projects; will operate a vehicle to transport supplies.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • The employee must be able to obtain and hold a Government Purchase Card.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
  • In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
