Qualifications

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The time-in-grade and qualification requirements must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. You qualify for this position at the GS-12 level (starting salary $92,279) if you possess the following:  One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-11) in the Federal Service.  This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience.  Specialized experience for this position includes:  Serving as an assistant instructor and/or joint facilitator for various course deliveries to a wide variety of audiences; and Coordinating, organizing, conducting, evaluating, tracking, and reporting training course deliveries; and Providing support to a team in the execution of planning, developing, monitoring, evaluating and managing training requirements related to emergency management. You qualify for this position at the GS-13 level (starting salary $109,732) if you possess the following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-12) in the Federal Service.  This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience.  Specialized experience for this position includes: Leading a team in the execution of planning, developing, monitoring, evaluating and managing training requirements related to emergency management; and Serving as a lead instructor and/or primary facilitator for various course deliveries to a wide variety of audiences; and Serves as the primary point of contact in coordinating, organizing, conducting, evaluating, tracking, and reporting training course deliveries.  In addition to the minimum qualifications described above, you must meet the following requirement(s) to be considered qualified for the position:  Education Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. or Experience General Experience (for GS-5 positions): Experience that provided evidence of the ability to instruct students in the use of equipment, principles, or practices of the subject or occupation. This experience may have been gained as a teacher or instructor; in on-the-job supervision or instruction of subordinates or fellow workers; or in work involving application of the principles, practices, and techniques of the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled. Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s). Supervising or administering a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. For Community College of the Air Force GS-1712 positions only:Section 9315 of 10 USC directs the commander of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to comply with standards established by the Secretary of Education to confer associate degrees upon enlisted members who have completed the requirements for the prescribed programs of study. To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e. all teachers must hold at least an associate's degree in order for the school to meet accreditation criteria. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and provides valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.NOTE: Qualifications are based on breadth/level of experience.
