This position is part of the Education Facilities, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Supply Specialist you will be responsible for providing safe, healthy and appropriate learning environments for students and staff by extending the life cycle of federal property and maximizing property usefulness before disposal.

Duties

As a Supply Specialist GS-2001-5/7/9, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision: Develop goals and objectives that integrate organizational, logistics, supply, transportation and inventory management. Provide guidance and policy direction in supply and equipment support by identifying discrepancies. Coordinate with other units for material support for projects, operations, or programs. Review and validate state activity or unit requests for procurement of logistics supplies and services. Manage, regulate, coordinate and exercise control over supplies, equipment or other materials using an automated supply management system. Manage inventory by determining supply needs, distribution of supplies, procurement of supplies through authorization and funds management.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. For this position, they are listed below. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. GS-05: Three (3) years of progressively responsible generalized experience that includes: analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; plan and organize work; communicate effectively orally and in writing. At least one (1) year of this experience needs to be equivalent to the GS-04 level in the Federal service. -OR- Successfully completed a four (4) year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. -OR- Combination of undergraduate level education and experience when combined together meets 100% of the total requirements for the position. GS-07: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service that includes: Identifying and reconciling differences in property inventories; identifying solutions to report information to senior staff; assist in maintaining records and files related to the security and safety of property and equipment in an automated system; use judgement in interpreting guidelines such as policies and regulations. -OR- Successfully completed one (1) full year of appropriate graduate level education (18 Semester hours or the equivalent). Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. -OR- Superior Academic Achievement and is based on one of the following: (1) Class standing - applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; or (2) Grade-point average (G.P.A.)-Applicants must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (3) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society. Membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision. -OR- Combination of graduate level education and specialized experience when combined together meets 100% of the total requirements for the position. GS-09: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service that includes: Preparing and maintaining records and files related to the security and safety of property and equipment; assist in the administration and coordination of space management requirements; handling issues with real property transactions in accordance with property management policies and procedures; maintaining automated files and records on equipment and property used; ensure the correction of discrepancies and proper disposal of obsolete or expired items. -OR- Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR LL.B. or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. -OR- Combination of graduate level education beyond the first year of progressive graduate study and specialized experience when combined together meets 100% of the total requirements for the position. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year (52 weeks) of service at the next lower grade level.

Education

This position does not have a positive education requirement at this grade level. Therefore, no transcripts are required unless you are substituting your education to meet the Minimum Qualification Requirements.
