About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York, a historically unique and geographically beautiful area, offering bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.

Duties

Assist the Operations Officer, Battalion Intel and Security (S2)/Training and Operations (S3) offices, in planning, coordinating, and synchronizing training management Prepare plans in support of contingency operations to include battalion integrated contingencies and movement of forces and personnel. Collaborate with supervisors to identify shortfalls in emergency, mobilization, and contingency plans. Recommend solutions to deficiencies within emergency, mobilization, and contingency plans. Participate in training exercises directed by higher headquarters.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment
  • This is a deployable Department of the Army Civilian position. As such, incumbent must pass an initial and annual medical examination and receive/maintain up-to-date required immunization for the overseas or deployed location.
  • This position is designated as Emergency Essential (EE).
  • Position may require Temporary Duty (TDY) of any length including 6 months in duration or longer in CONUS or OCONUS in austere locations.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain an official US passport.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete online computer based training and residential deployment training,
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Logistics, Advanced Supply Chain Management, Business Law, and Service Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
