About the Position: This position is located with the US Army Medical Command Deputy Commander for Clinical Services, Behavioral Health Division, Social Work Services, Family Advocacy Program, Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia.

Duties

Conduct comprehensive and complex risk assessments, clinical interviews, and psychosocial assessment of children and adults. Make treatment recommendations to the Incident Determination Committee team. Obtain relevant data from various agencies to compile information and present for a determination of abuse or neglect to the Family Advocacy Program Case Review Committee. Provide therapeutic treatment to victims, offenders and family members of those involved in domestic violence or abuse or neglect. Analyze the information and use professional judgment concerning difficult decisions that may have serious consequences to the family.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent is subject to central registry check (Department of Defense Child and Domestic Abuse Reporting System).
  • Incumbent may be required to work after hours or be on call.
  • Incumbent may be required to testify before agencies and/or in court.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain BLS in accordance with American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • This position requires immunization screening.
  • Must be credentialed through the Hospital Credentials Committee as a provider in accordance with AR 40-68, and other applicable regulations and directives.
  • Must possess and maintain a current, active, valid and unrestricted Social Work license from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth territory, or jurisdiction.

Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Family Advocacy): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes working in a family advocacy environment, assessing incidents of abuse, providing counseling to abusers or victims, and developing treatment plans to those involved in abuse. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Experience: This position requires a year of experience or training working in the field of child abuse and domestic abuse. Licensure/Certification:This position has a licensure requirement. You must provide a copy of your current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. (Note: You must attach a copy of your license.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Information ManagementInterpersonal SkillsPsychologyTherapy and Counseling Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
