Duties

Troubleshooting and problem resolution actions with technical support peers at other RSCs and higher echelons. Assign and evaluate the work of others; establish priorities of effort based on mission guidance. Monitor technology trends and identify products for procurement to fulfill annual IT asset replacement requirements. Determine information technology requirements; assess the section's internal controls. Prepare purchase requests and manage Government Purchasing Card (GPC) as the section's appointed Billing Official. Manage employee Individual Development Plans, work schedules, and attendance. Developing Command budgetary input, provide detailed budget projections based upon historical data, known priorities, special exercises and projects, mission changes which affect budget requirements, and inflation factors Supervising the daily activities of a full-time staff; provide training, planning, and determine work priorities; assign, distribute, and review the work of subordinates

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail - knowledge of established IT techniques, requirements, and methods in order to execute assignments and current technical skills, methods and practices. Experience installing, testing, and implementing new software releases and files; including Microsoft products, installation and repair of printers, building images for PCs, configuration of VTC equipment and wireless devices such as Blackberries. Customer Service - ability to respond to and resolve customer problems, through remote means, experience in providing customer assistance and individual or group training related to supported products and services. Knowledge of and experience with implementing systems with the Army Gold Master image. Oral Communication - ability to write and speak clearly and concisely and explain progress and outcome of assignments and conduct training or briefings; interact and interface w/all levels of personnel; work with team to document and resolve issues related to IT systems; develop excellent technical documentation and technical instructional guides; prepare and present written technical briefings at meetings effectively with customers face-to-face and in other situations. Must be a good listener that considers all relevant viewpoints and is committed to successful task completion. Problem Solving - knowledge of rules, operating procedures, and processing methods to perform a wide range of IT assignments and procedural problem solving. Define clear-cut problem areas, gather and analyze data, form and communicate conclusions and recommendations, and provide input on portions of complex projects. Basic knowledge of prevailing practices in IT to propose alternate approaches and/or to resolve problems. AND Specialized Experience:Your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position being filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. Specialized experience is defined as: monitoring operations on computer equipment and systems; providing IT guidance; delivering IT services; managing a full-time staff of military and civilian employees; and/or manage multiple IT programs. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer ServiceInformation Technology Life Cycle ManagementManaging Human ResourcesPlanning and EvaluatingProject ManagementTechnology Awareness Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
