This position is located in the Office of Information Technology (OIT), Executive Office for Immigration Review, U. S. Department of Justice. Incumbent serves as IT Asset Management Specialist (ITAM) which entails collecting inventory, financial, and contractual data to manage the IT asset throughout its life cycle. This is a Competitive Service position; additional positions may be filled from this announcement within 90 days of certificate issuance.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to the following: Participate with the supervisor in planning, implementing, and evaluation the IT Asset Management activities. Track and maintains an accurate inventory of all assets throughout their life cycle. Capture and integrates auto discovery/inventory, financial and contractual data in a central repository for all IT assets. Manage the evaluation of proprietary Asset Management tools and recommends tools that will meet organization's budget, resources, timescale, and technical requirements. Research industry best practices and compares against organization's practices in order to establish benchmarks for managing IT assets. Oversee the accountability for a large number of physical components of computers and computer networks from acquisition through disposal.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for the Information Technology Specialist (PLCYPLN) IT Asset Management position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications: For the GS - 13 LEVEL: Experience Requirements: You must have IT-related experience in each of the following four competencies listed below which must be supported by the information contained in your resume and other application materials. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties: 1) Maintaining and update policies and procedures for effective asset life cycle management of IT assets; 2) Managing vendors software and hardware asset portfolios from requisition through retirement; 3) Overseeing the accountability for a large number of physical components of computers and computer networks from acquisition through disposal; and 4) Implementing and oversee the administration of the IT Office Automation Asset Management request and approval process, procurement management, lifecycle management, redeployment and disposal management procedures and standards.(Your resume must CLEARLY demonstrate this experience) Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
