The National Science Foundation is seeking qualified candidates for a Science Education Administrator (Program Director) position for the National Science Foundation Research Traineeship Program (NRT) within the Directorate for STEM Education (EDU), Division of Graduate Education (DGE), Alexandria, VA. Duties

The selected candidate will primarily support DGE priorities in the NSF Research Traineeship Program (NRT) and Innovations in Graduate Education Program (IGE) programs. The selected individual will also participate as needed on other DGE programs, including the Cyber Corps : Scholarship for Service (SFS) and Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace Education (SaTC-EDU) Programs; the Graduate Research Fellowships Program (GRFP); and the cross-Directorate Racial Equity (EDU Racial Equity), Education Core Research Program portfolio (ECR:CORE, ECR: BCSER), and STEM Education Post-doctoral Fellowship Program (STEM Ed PRF). The responsibilities of the NSF program director are constantly evolving. The program director is guided by the goals of NSF's Strategic Plan: (1) empower STEM talent to fully participate in science and engineering, (2) create new knowledge about our universe, our world and ourselves, (3) benefit society by translating knowledge into solutions, and (4) excel at NSF operations and management. The core strategies NSF staff employ include developing intellectual capital, strengthening the physical infrastructure, integrating research and education, and promoting partnerships.

Requirements

Qualifications

Candidates must have a Ph.D./Ed.D. in a STEM field plus, after award of the doctorate, six or more years of successful research, research administration, and/or managerial experience pertinent to the position. Prior experience with NSF, for example as a staff member, grant awardee (as principal investigator or co-principal investigator), panelist, or reviewer is required. Prior experience as an educator and mentor of graduate students is required. Active participation in a scholarly community is required. Evidence of commitment to excellence and equity in STEM education, preferably at the graduate level, is required. Strong teaming and collaborative skills are required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
