Duties

You will serve as Supervisory Physical Security Specialist in developing policy and guidance for the Installation Management Command (IMCOM) physical security program at the installation. You will be responsible for the implementation of policies and development of procedures for the physical protection of IMCOM and tenant activities facilities. You will prepare, maintain and update the arms, ammunition and explosives and physical security plans as they relate to the IMCOM and various tenant missions. You will review regulations and directives from higher headquarters and prepares regulations, supplements, SOPs, recommended policies, procedures, plans, programs and goals implementing requirements of higher headquarters. You will present orientations and classes on physical security to security representatives/activity personnel.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. This is the Department of Defense (DoD) Security Certification Program directed by DoD Instruction 3305.13.
  • It is approved by the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs for use in the Army via the following memorandum: Memorandum, Assistant Secretary of Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, dated 8 September 2015.
  • Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program.
  • The SPeD certification is the DoD initiative to professionalize the security workforce by establishing a common set of competencies for security practitioners.
  • Promotes interoperability, facilitates professional development and training, and develops a workforce of certified security professionals.
  • Incumbent of this position may require privileged access to information systems. IAW DoD 8570.01-M.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain appropriate Information Assurance (IA) Technical Certification and Computing Environment (CE) Certifications for the supported operating system(s) and/or security related tools/devices.
  • Required by the employing organization to obtain and maintain IA and CE certifications within six months of entrance on duty.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Planning and recommending the installation of physical security systems to ensure the safety and security of facilities and personnel; 2) Developing and/or implementing procedures and practices in an effort to detect and prevent physical security vulnerabilities; 3) Assigning responsibilities for resolving, security issues to cover multiple security objectives; and 4) Utilizing knowledge of various security equipment and devices to implement protective methods and security procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Oral CommunicationPhysical SecuritySecurity Education, Training and AwarenessSecurity Program ManagementVulnerabilities Assessment and Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
